Special Notice

Booknet/Pubnet changes their EDI systems

Beta testing has begun. Pubnet will be switching everyone over on December 5th to the new Pubnet 2.0. You can avoid being lumped in with the masses that will be ported over on that day by following the steps below now. Getting support should it be needed on December 5th could be delayed.

Some background

Pubnet is known within Bookmanager as Booknet or Bknet, and refers to sending orders and receiving confirmations and invoices electronically. The Pubnet ordering network was recently acquired by MVB, a German company that provides similar services for the book industry. MVB is supporting the Pubnet ordering systems by internally moving files between Pubnet and their new Pubnet 2.0 system so that the North American booksellers' experience remains the same.

Bookmanager will operate as before, however, Pubnet 2.0 provides the opportunity to move files to and from your suppliers in a more efficient manner. In technical terms, the new system no longer requires a double login using a proxy.

Please transition early by following these four simple steps:

  1. Update your Bookmanager to the latest version. You can continue sending orders as usual because the old Booknet/Pubnet system will continue to work as before (i.e. using the double login method).
  2. Use "Reply All" to this email to us and Pubnet ( support@mvb-online.com ). At the top, put your store name, contact email address, phone number and your seven-letter SAN (found in [alt] Setup → Your Company Name).
  3. Wait for two emails from Pubnet. The first will be a "Welcome to Pubnet" which can be ignored. The second will arrive once they have migrated your old account to Pubnet 2.0. When the second email arrives you will be unable to send or receive files until completing the next step.
  4. Go to Bookmanager 3) Suppliers, search for code BNET, press [X]tra, select Electronic Ordering Setup and change the "Booknet URL" from "ftp-edi.pubnet.org" to "next-ftp-edi.pubnext.org" (note the x in pubnext).
Where to make the Booknet change in Bookmanager

You are done! Then send an order. Contact us immediately (not Pubnet) if anything seems unusual. Mosaic Books has been testing for a while and so we don't expect there to be issues.

Please make an effort to migrate early and save us all from a potential landslide of calls on December 5.

As usual, just give us a shout if you have questions.
